Visitor wants a Thursday night pub crawl downtown - River Market, Main St, or Argenta?

My great-nephew is flying in this week from Ohio for a work thing and he asked me (of all people) where to go out Thursday night. I haven't been in a bar since the old Locust Street days, so I'm no help. He wants strong drinks and fair prices, nothing fancy, and he's planning to walk it.

So I'm asking you all. River Market is closest to his hotel, but I figure it's the touristy one and prices might show it. Main Street I know has been filling back in downtown over the years. And then there's Argenta across the river, which he can get to over the bridge on foot if the weather cooperates. I keep one eye on the forecast this time of year, and Thursday is still looking iffy.

If you were putting a route together for a first-timer, where would you start and where would you end? Is Thursday too quiet for it to be worth the walk? He's a beer and whiskey guy if that helps.

Thursday is a little quiet in the River Market, but not dead. Main Street downtown on a weeknight is the thinnest of the three, so I'd skip it unless he wants a specific stop.

If it were me, I'd have him start in the River Market with one or two near the hotel, then walk the Junction Bridge over to Argenta and finish there. Prices over there run a bit lower, and for a beer and whiskey guy Argenta is the better bet. Flyway Brewing and Dugan's Pub are both on Main in NLR and an easy walk from each other.

The bridge is open to the weather, so if it's raining or windy Thursday he'll want to either skip it or just Uber across. I'd do the Uber back either way, since it's a lot colder walking the bridge at midnight than it looked at 7.

Second Kevin's route: start in the River Market, cross the Junction Bridge, and finish in Argenta. Skipping Main Street for a Thursday makes sense to me too.

I'd have him check hours before he crosses, though. Some of the places over there run shorter on weeknights, and it's a letdown to walk the bridge and find a dark window. If he's a beer and whiskey guy, Flyway for the beer and Dugan's for the whiskey is a good pairing, and they're close enough together that he won't waste any of the evening walking.

icarol, if Thursday still looks windy, an Uber over is no shame. March on that bridge can bite. Hope he has a good trip and we make a good impression.
